Overview
Summary
The United States is by far the world's largest concentration of high-net-worth wealth. Roughly 4 in every 10 millionaires globally is American, and the number of US dollar-millionaires has more than doubled since 2010, driven by rising equity markets, housing wealth and retirement-account accumulation.
Most US "millionaires" are not the stereotypical ultra-rich — they are typically homeowners in their 50s and 60s whose primary residence and retirement savings together exceed US$1 million.
